Instrumental transcommunication: a new channel between realities?

By Prof David Fontana

Recorded May 2010

The Late Prof Fontana was an honorary President of the SSPR and an internationally renowned psychologist; being a distinguished visiting fellow at Cardiff University and Professor of Transpersonal Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University. We were most fortunate to have Prof Fontana as a regular speaker and his last lecture to the society was on EVP or 'Instrumental Transcommunication'. This lecture featured many recordings of alleged spirit communication ~ and you can judge for yourself whether the evidence supports his conjecture, that instrumental transcommunication (or ITC) is indeed a new channel between realities. The Enfield Poltergeist Revisited 25 years on

By Maurice Grosse

Recorded Sept 2003

There are a few Poltergeist cases to capture the public imagination and be known to the 'man on the street': 'The Enfield Poltergeist' is one such case. Maurice Grosse was a successful inventor and designer until the tragic death of his daughter in 1976. Subsequent coincidences and experiences regarding his daughter made Mr Grosse reassess his beliefs regarding the paranormal and he joined the SPR and The Ghost Club in 1977. In September of that year Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair started to investigate the North London Poltergeist Case. This case was covered in the national media and has been reassessed and re-examined since. The Late Maurice Grosse visited the society on several occasions and this - his last visit to the society - was his definitive review of his most famous case and a rebuttal to the sceptics. Andy Thomas is an author, publisher and public speaker, specialising in Crop Circles, Modern Mysteries and Parapolitics. In 1998 he published 'Vital Signs: A Complete Guide to the Crop Circle Mystery' which is regarded as a seminal work in the field of Cereology. His central thesis is that not all crop circles are man-made, and in this - his first visit to the society (and Scotland!) - he guides the listener through the collected evidence and the current theories. Despite the confusing variety of both evidence and theory, Mr Thomas presented an entertaining and engaging lecture on a controversial subject.

Dr Sheldrake is a regular visitor to the society and his talks are always well-received. Can Your Mind Heal Your Body?

By Dr David Hamilton

Recorded Sept 2009

Dr David Hamilton is a charismatic public speaker, motivational speaker and sports coach. Originally trained as a biochemist, and having worked in the pharmaceutical industry in the 1990s, he was struck by the efficacy of 'the placebo effect'. Essentially, sugar pills working just as well as the actual drugs. The mind's ability to effect the body has become his life's work, and since publishing his first book 'It's The Thought That Counts' in 2005, he has left teaching science to become a full-time author and public speaker. This was the second talk given to the society by Dr Hamilton and his presentation was brimming with equal measures of scholarship and breathless enthusiasm. Can the mind heal your body? Dr Hamilton makes the case that it can - and it does.
